Compassion Connect is a Portland-based nonprofit whose mission is to combat division and apathy by uniting churches around what they have in common in order to serve and love their neighbors. We provide tangible opportunities for people to put their faith in practice, use their gifts, and make a difference through service. Two main areas that we help churches and individuals unite to serve their neighbors are community health and human trafficking. We accept internship on a rolling basis and can serve as an official site for college internship credit, so we invite you to explore some of your options below and on our website at!

“Interning with Compassion Connect is such a special experience. From day one you are a part of not just a team but part of a family working together towards the mission of uniting the church to serve! Through my internship I was able to dive into research, grow in new skills, and build relationships with girls at the Design Studio [one of Compassion Connect’s anti-trafficking programs]. Through my internship, the Design Studio was able to pilot a youth entrepreneurship and job skills program over the next year, and the experiences and skills that I gained through my internship have helped launch me into my career!” -Dana Pair, former intern

Anti-Trafficking Internships: Adorned In Grace
It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of people in the United States are sexually exploited each year. Worldwide, 26% of victims are children. These statistics are sobering, but they are not the end of the story. Passionate people like you are rewriting the ending. With your help, we envision a world where people are safe from sexual exploitation and experiencing abundant life through the united service of the church.

Adorned In Grace internship examples:
Trafficking Prevention (General): The Adorned In Grace Design Studio is our after school program for girls who are facing obstacles in life that may put them at risk for trafficking. If you want to serve youth, be on the front lines of human trafficking prevention, and improve your administrative, leadership, and creative skills, and help expand this model across the city, we would love for you to join us for an exciting Design Studio internship. If you are passionate about making a dent in the trend of sex trafficking in our area, this internship is a tangible way to do that.

Trafficking Awareness/Social Entrepreneurship: Compassion Connect’s Adorned In Grace Bridal Shops sell new and gently used bridal wear that generate funding for our anti-trafficking work and promote awareness of trafficking in our area. Are you passionate about taking down trafficking and also want to build or have retail/business management skills? We are looking for interns who will assist with the management of our two bridal shops (Raleigh Hills and Gresham). This would be significant real-world exposure for a student who would like to gain hands on experience in management and is passionate about business in a social justice/social entrepreneurship setting.

And more!

“Compassion Connect friends, I feel incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from each of you. I felt so included and taken care of here. I hope more interns get to experience your kindness in the future. I pray that this place, and your work, will be forever protected by the Father and be blessed and multiply. He is glorified by the things done in this place. I hope to work with each of you again sometime in the future.”
