Children Ministry Director
Primary Purpose: Shaping the discipleship process for children and their families to know Christ and to grow in the Gospel together.
WHO WE ARE:
Chinese For Christ Berkeley (CFC Berkeley) is a non-denominational, Bible-believing, and growing community in Christ located in the Elmwood District of Berkeley, CA, within walking distance of U.C. Berkeley. CFC Berkeley is a multi-lingual church, consisting of a Mandarin (cfcberkeley.org) and English congregation (vinewoodcfc.com), partnering together for the Gospel.
GENERAL:
20 hour per week part time position
This position will report to the Senior Pastor of CFC Berkeley, and collaborate with the current Children Deacon
QUALIFICATIONS:
A vibrant faith and trust in Jesus Christ
Haves a heart for children with a focus on love, serving, and pointing them to Jesus Christ
Ability to coordinate and train teachers and leaders
Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in education or Christian education
Cross-cultural sensitivity between second generation Asian Americans and first generation Chinese immigrant families
Fluent in English
The following are preferred from the candidate, though not required:
2 or more years of experience serving in a similar capacity
Proficient in Mandarin
RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
Community:
To know and be known and to love and be loved by the members of CFC Berkeley
To be fully immersed and participate in the life, mission, and vision of CFC Berkeley
To partner with families to oversee the spiritual growth of the children at CFC Berkeley
Teaching and Preaching:
Teach and preach in Children’s Sunday worship, Sunday school, Friday fellowship, Nursery, VBS or other educational activities as needed
Provide necessary training for Children ministry coworkers and establish a reviewing scheme
Develop Select and implement the Sunday school, Friday night fellowship curriculum, along with activities such as Vacation Bible School and other special events
Communication:
Actively communicate Inform and coordinate with volunteers and parents about the progress of Children Ministry
Provide pastoral counseling for children and their family as needed
Administration:
Organize, and participate in all the events of the Children ministry
