Northrich Baptist Church (Richardson, TX) – Pastor

The Big Picture
Northrich Baptist Church ( is seeking a Pastor with an emphasis on preaching, vision casting, leadership development, and equipping the church to reach the lost for the glory of God.

The Church
Northrich Baptist Church, 1101 Custer Road, Richardson, TX, is a Southern Baptist Church that was founded originally as a mission church in 1960 by FBC Richardson. We are known as a warm and loving church family and we value biblical preaching, God-focused worship, and seek to obey the Great Commandments and Great Commission. We have been affiliated with the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention since shortly after its formation. Northrich is not sitting still while we are in this period of search and transition to a new Senior Pastor, and we have been busy with consistent ministries, including Sunday morning and Wednesday evening Bible studies, community outreach/evangelistic events (Splash Bash, Fall Festival, Christmas Carols and Bonfires), and community service activities to the local elementary school and our monthly Pray & Go ministry of prayer walking our neighborhood. Included in this effort has been the formation of a new Sunday morning Bible Study for Spanish speaking members and prospects. One of our strengths over the years has been a vibrant Women’s ministry with Bible study, ministry efforts, and fellowships/retreats occurring on a consistent basis for ladies of all ages. This ministry has also spearheaded a strong connection of support and service to Prestonwood Crisis Pregnancy Center. In the past year our church has gone through a process of establishing and communicating a Vision Statement, Mission Statement, Purposes of the Church, Core Values, and setting Strategic Initiatives.

The Community
Richardson is a city in Dallas and Collin counties and is located just north of the city of Dallas. As of 2019, the city had a population of 121,323. Richardson is an affluent suburb of Dallas. It is home to the University of Texas – Dallas and the Telecom Corridor, which is a high concentration of telecommunications companies, including offices for AT&T, Fujitsu, and Cisco Systems, and there are a number of tech companies with offices here, including Texas Instruments, Raytheon, and RealPage. Richardson’s largest employment base is provided by the insurance industry, with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas’ headquarters, a regional hub for GEICO, regional offices for United Healthcare, and one of State Farm’s three national regional hubs located in the community. The Richardson economy is thriving.

The Candidate
Northrich Baptist Church is searching for a pastor to fill a full-time Senior Pastor position at our church, and as further explained below, we are looking for a “builder”. We are seeking a pastor who is committed to the inerrancy and authority of the Bible, and will agree with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. He will lead our church on the strong foundations of scriptural authority. We desire a man who is being transformed by God’s Word himself, as he leads our congregation to be transformed as well. He will be a text-driven expositor of scripture, and firm in his conviction. Our pastor must have a heart for his people, be easily approachable, and skilled in building relationships with all ages. He will lead our staff with a team-based approach, and make biblical decisions concerning the direction of our church and communicate them with grace to our congregation. Our pastor will strive for continued church unity, yet always speak the truth in love. We desire a pastor who will have a demonstrated heart for evangelism and the lost. This concern will be reflected in his consistent preaching of the gospel from the pulpit, but also in his daily routine of interpersonal relationships in church life and community life. In short, our pastor should lead by example in the area of personal evangelism. This man’s concern for the lost will also be reflected in his “mission minded” leadership of the church.

The Qualifications
All of the above characteristics are somewhat given expectations of a pastor of a Baptist church – yet, we are looking for a unique man to take advantage of what we believe is a unique opportunity to lead a church in transition that strongly desires to see God glorified through its life and ministry, and has resolved to embrace change, as needed, in order to see this accomplished. The following phrases are some additional characteristics of the man, and/or his style of ministry, that we believe are important to fit with our unique opportunity:
-Spiritual gift of Leadership
-Must have a dream/vision/drive -- a “builder”
-Multi-ethnic mindset/experience, including embracing bilingual ministry efforts
-Creative, out-of-the-box thinker
-Open to non-traditional approaches to ministry (without compromising the gospel message)
-Strong work ethic and not easily deterred or discouraged; not afraid to make mistakes.
