Youth Pastor Job Description

The youth pastor at Northside Christian Church is a full time position that works closely with the staff and leadership to create a meaningful and effective ministry to students and their families. It is important for the youth pastor to have a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus that reflects Him, His truth, and His design.

Primary responsibilities
1. Plan and coordinate the following youth ministry programs: a. Middle school students
b. High school students c. Youth volunteers
d. Parents and families
2. Plan and lead activities for students that provide the right environment to help them grow in their relationships with the Lord, each other, their parents and our youth leaders.
a. Retreats, camps, mission trips, and activities play a significant role in the spiritual growth of our students and the group.
b. Provide small groups and leadership development opportunities for students.
3. Recruit and train the appropriate number of youth leaders and volunteers (not chaperones) that will minister to and with students.
a. This involves training and delegating meaningful ministry roles and tasks.
4. Teach God’s Word in consistent, powerful, and relatable ways with students.
5. Provide opportunities for kids to experience worship in age appropriate ways.
6. Provide places and spaces for youth to develop community.
7. Have a strong presence in our community schools. Support Northside students by
attending games and other meaningful events. This is also an opportunity to meet parents, our student’s friends, and teachers. 8. Help to maintain and develop the team culture at Northside.
8. Be an active part of the community, finding ways to engage in the lives of those who don’t yet know Jesus.

Secondary responsibilities
1. Occasional preaching
2. Participate in developing the leadership culture at Northside
3. Assist in coming beside ministry team leaders at Northside as assigned
4. Potential leadership of a small group
5. Play a leadership role in events Develop and oversee Northside's local outreach
strategy
6. Potential involvement and/or oversight of children’s ministry
7. Potential involvement and/or oversight of college/young adults

Skills required
1. Strong ability to communicate clearly to both the church and community
2. Planning and administration abilities including multitasking, and meeting deadline
3. Talent for recruiting, developing, and training leaders
4. Ability to perform tasks with minimal oversight
5. Proficient in biblical interpretation and teaching, with an understanding of the
Scriptures application to daily life
