Who We Are

We have a wide range of people and families that make up our church. Foothills has a broad spectrum of professionals, from farmers to financial planners, homemakers to health professionals, and educators to hands-on laborers. We enjoy the outdoors in hunting, fishing, camping, boating, skiing and hiking. Our church is conservative and non-denominational but is made up of people from a diverse mix of denominational backgrounds.

Where We Are Located

Stayton is a rural bedroom community of around 11,000, including our sister town, Sublimity. We are located 20 minutes east of Salem, Oregon and are within 75 miles from the beaches of the Oregon coast, skiing in the Cascade mountain range, and the city of Portland.

Job Overview

The Youth Pastor is chiefly responsible to provide pastoral oversight of adolescents as they grow and mature in their faith. Primarily, the Youth Pastor will lead a community of 6-12 grade students into adulthood through invested and growing adults.

Qualifications

- Has a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus that overflows in a lifestyle consistent with 1 Timothy 3 and Titus.
- Models a balance between family life, personal life and ministry.
- Agrees with the doctrine, covenant, mission statement of Foothills and champions them.
- Has experience leading in youth ministry.
- A specialist in youth development, culture, and current trends.
- Has the desire and gifting to disciple a broad range of people.
- Prays regularly for the church and sees prayer as a critical part of life of the church.
- Strives for excellence and is humble and teachable.
- Communicator who is able to teach and preach with clarity and conviction.

Main Responsibilities

- Responsible for developing a disciple making student ministry.
- The primary leader, vision caster, and teacher for Middle School and High School programs.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and resource leaders for all areas of the youth ministry.
- Develops and maintains effective communication with students and parents.
- Collaborates with our Children’s Ministry Team and Discipleship Pastor to provide a cohesive discipleship strategy for our church.
- Be a team player. Thinks “team” over “me” and the “whole church” over “my ministry”.

Education

Bachelors Degree preferred.

Currently Our Youth Ministry

This past year we’ve had a youth staff of 15 adults that have served around 70 kids at various weekly events. We’ve emphasized teaching that gives students well rounded bible knowledge with emphasis on knowing the person and gospel of Jesus in everyday life. We’ve had dozens of students participate in summer camps and spring retreats.

3. A video (preferred) of you teaching or preaching or an audio reference of the same.
