WOODLAND PARK CHAPEL, PORTLAND OREGON, IS SEEKING EITHER A SEMINARY INTERN OR A BI-VOCATIONAL ASSOCIATE PASTOR/ELDER
The Big Picture: Woodland Park Chapel is a small non-denominational congregation located in the heart of East Multnomah County (Portland Oregon) ten minutes from Western Seminary and five minutes from Multnomah Seminary. We were established in 1945, and became part of American Missionary Fellowship, now known as InFaith. Our current Sunday attendance is about 30. Worship services are centered on the reading, singing, and preaching of God's Word to the end of better glorifying and enjoying God and exulting in Jesus Christ. Our worship music consists of a blend of the great hymns of the past and the best of today’s theologically rich and congregationally-singable songs. Our preaching is primarily expository and exegetical in nature. We also have a mid-week Bible Study attended by 6-10 people. We regularly partner and network with other nearby Christ-centered churches in ministry and prayer.
Position Description: We are seeking either a bi-vocational associate who will come along-side the senior pastor to assist in the load of preaching the Word of God, shepherding the congregation, and equipping the church for works of service, or an intern who will learn from and help the senior pastor in these ministries. There is “vagueness” in this position description because we are more concerned that the associate or intern be a man of godly character than in having a specific skill-set.
Qualifications:
He must:
a. Foremost, be a baptized believer, a man who loves Jesus in an open and honest way, a man of prayer and the Word, having a heart for shepherding God’s people, and a man who senses a call as a minister of the gospel.
b. Meet the qualifications for Elders as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:2-7 and Titus 1.
c. Be in agreement with Woodland Park Chapel’s doctrinal statement and teaching positions.
Average 8 hours per week, remuneration commensurate with need, experience, and ability/availability to assist in the ministry.
