Lead Pastor

To provide spiritual leadership, pastoral care, administrative oversight and organizational direction to the congregation.

Accountable to Hillsview Community Council, and to the Covenant Ministerium and the rules of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To provide biblically based preaching and teaching ministry, including administration of the sacraments.
2. To provide active leadership to the congregation and its organizations; and provide a written report at the Congregational Annual/Semi Business Meeting.
3. Shall practice good administrative procedures and cooperate with the church council; shall be an ex-officio member of the council.
4. To administer the church’s programs by supervising a staff, that includes the Youth Director, and Music Associates.
5. To support pastoral care for those members and the community in crisis situations.
6. To mentor members who are seeking pastoral leadership roles.
7. Shall post regular hours of availability on the church property for meetings with congregants.

Primary Duties:
a. Will be part time; 20 hours plus per week (on average).
b. Be articulate and faithful Proclaimer of the Word of God. The pastor will be the “Preaching Pastor” with an occasional leave of absence. His preaching should have a balance of evangelism and nurturing.
c. Be a competent teacher of the Bible. Requires the pastor to “lead the way” or “shepherd” in teaching the Word.
d. Pastoral Visitations. It is expected that the Pastor will not neglect this important part of the ministry. All persons of the congregation who are hospitalized or going through times of crisis should receive a visit from the Pastor.
e. Administrator. The pastor will be the administrator of the day-to-day activities of the church. He will have final approval of the weekly church bulletin.
d. Be an active participant in the Pacific North Conference Ministerial Association and the Covenant Ministerium.
e. Meet with the Youth Director and Music Associates on a monthly/quarterly basis.
