Who we are:
Grace United Community Church is seeking a full-time pastor to foster the spiritual and ministerial development of a newly established community church in Connell, Washington. Formerly organized as the Connell United Methodist Church, we have chosen to disaffiliate and reorganize as Grace United Community Church.
Situated along US395 on the edge of the rolling hills of the Palouse, Connell is renowned for its agriculture, particularly wheat farming. Our Blue Mountains ecoregion includes desert-like shrubland, grasslands, pine forests, and alpine highlands, providing an abundance of recreational opportunities for those who love to be outdoors.
Our demographic profile is similar to other agriculturally based rural communities and we are blessed with a robust Hispanic population of mostly multi-generational families. Our local school district is geographically the second largest in the state at 704 square miles and proudly has the 4th highest graduation percentage within the State of Washington.
Programmatically we are mission-oriented. We sponsor a preschool program that is always full and have been instrumental in the creation of the Connell Food Bank which now serves 1000 people each month. The Connell Keenagers is a lunch-based socialization program for people over 65 providing meals twice each week.
We look forward to building our congregation to include members of other churches that are struggling with attendance and financial issues within our community.
The Role:
As the Pastor of Grace United, you’ll exercise strong leadership, recruitment, and delegation skills. You will have a passion for the spiritual growth of children and youth as well as fostering community at Grace United.
Help us define the ethos, goals, content, and assessment of the discipleship process at Grace United.
Create and implement a long-term ministry path for families and students that inspires them toward a lasting relationship with Christ.
Promote the ministry and encourage, and foster service involvement with the next generation of Grace United church members.
Coordinate with ministry team leaders to foster a vision for children and youth serving in the ministry of the church and the community.
Who you are:
A follower of Jesus Christ with a vibrant growing relationship with Him.
A sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit and willingness to seek the Spirit’s direction in tandem with other church leadership.
At least 2 years of ministry involvement and/or experience (preferred).
Ministry experience involving at-risk children/teens (preferred).
Theologically conservative in your belief system and teaching.
Willingness to work under the guidelines set forth by the Grace United book of discipline.
A self-starter who can foster the spiritual formation of Grace United’s emerging generation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to understand and inspire children, students, and families within the community.
Demonstrated ability to organize, inspire, and mobilize ministry teams.
Previous training in and experience with child safety.
Ability to maintain accurate records and follow budget guidelines.
Diplomatic with strong negotiation and effective dispute-resolution skills.
