Director of Youth & Their Families

General Personal & Spiritual Qualifications
Profess personal faith in Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual growth and passion for God.
Model the biblical qualifications of an elder. (1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Peter 5:1-3)
Model biblical integrity in all things. (Titus 2:7-8)
Model biblical leadership as an equipper. (Eph 4:11-13)
Model biblical community in relationships as described in the “one another” commands in Scripture.

Support a multi-staff and multi-cultural team ministry.

Ministry & Job Specific Qualifications
Ability to communicate and coordinate volunteers across cultures and generations
Biblical training / degree (MA in Theology/Ministry or MDiv preferred)
At least 2 years of experience of ministry with youth
Intercultural education, training, competency, and experience
Experience collaborating and leading a church ministry team
Understanding of strategic planning and experience in establishing goals, objectives, and tasks
Experience in conducting youth-focused events & activities
Experience in presenting and teaching

What You Will Be Doing
Compelled by the love of the Triune God, the Director of Youth & Their Families will prayerfully curate experiences, and programs for youth to follow Jesus, build spiritual friendships, and love others as themselves. The Director of Youth & Their Families will prayerfully rely on the Holy Spirit and work with the Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & Art to help youth develop personal and communal relationships with God, spiritual friendships, intercultural, intergenerational community, growth in Christlikeness, and missional engagement and action in our world.

Job Duties
Disciple Youth (5-7 hours)
Disciple youth weekly in mentorship meetings (4-6 hours)
Pray for, listen to, and care for the souls of youth, mentors, and families
Teach and exemplify prayer for youth
Help youth discern the Holy Spirit’s guidance, their gifting, and present them with opportunities to exercise their faith in Jesus
Help youth connect with Village Church and Global expression of the body of Christ
Prepare for meetings with youth before, follow up afterward
Attend youth events
Meet with 2-3 youth per week
Equip mentors to meet with youth
Lead Youth Council (2 hours, twice a month)
Monthly prayer, spiritual direction, and planning meetings with Youth Council to lead ministry, help plan events, and designate responsibilities to facilitate a Spirit-led, Youth-led Youth Ministry.

Pastor Youth Group - Wednesdays (10 hours)
Organize details (2 hours)
Along with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & Art, the Director of Youth & Their Families will coordinate volunteers for Youth Mentors, set up/tear down, and snacks, help youth give announcements, run activities, and lead worship
Coordinate Youth Council members for announcements, worship team, games, prayer, and testimonies
Set up spaces 2-3 hours before groups meet
Facilitate Wednesday night youth group (3 hours)
Alternate facilitating Middle & High School groups with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & Art
Lead weekly Mentors Meeting for group you are facilitating
Lead a small group
During the week: check in with your group, pray for them by name, prepare questions and ideas; occasionally meeting up with your group for discipleship & fun
During Group, lead youth in sharing life together, praying together, and mutual invitation discussion
Teach God’s Word for youth in a contextualized and interactive way, incorporating global Christian theology, tactile/creative lessons, missional applications, and maturing hermeneutics. (5 hours)

Pastor Youth Church - Sundays (15 hours a week)
Plan and Facilitate Youth Church with Youth Mentors and Youth Council
Lead teams of adults and youth to facilitate an engaging worshipful service for youth.
Organize preaching themes, schedule, and diverse team of preachers
Preach 1-2 times a month in youth church
Train gifted & interested Youth Council members to preach
Facilitate Youth Worship teams, led by youth
Instruct and manage Youth Mentors to facilitate small groups.

Vision, Mission, & Experiences (5 hours)
Prayerfully discern where God’s Spirit is guiding our youth & ministry
Meet 2x weekly with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & Art to plan, organize, pray for youth, and check-in (2.5 hours weekly)
Together with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & Art, implement teaching plan -3x a year: Jan, May, September (2 hours monthly)
Together with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & Art, develop experiences -3x a year: February, June, October (2 hours monthly)
Plan, facilitate, and attend all youth experiences, including mission camps, retreats, and short-term mission trips
Budget time so that experiences don’t take away time from preparation for regular programming
Together with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & Art, update youth roster & connect with families -3x a year: March, August, December (1 hour monthly)
Attend weekly pastors & directors staff meetings (1.5 hours weekly)
Continue youth ministry education to stay up to date (e.g. books, seminars, conferences, etc) (1 hour weekly)

Mentors (2 hours)
Organize Planning Center (2 hours)
Schedule Youth Mentors at least 1 month ahead for Group & Church
Input Group & Church details at least 1 week ahead
Send messages to youth worship team & youth council
Organize and co-lead mentors meetings and annual Mentors Retreat (3 hours every 3 months)

Parent Communication (3 hours)
Communicate with Families via Weekly Email, Social Media, and Website Updates (2 hours)
Plan and facilitate bi-monthly Pastoral Parents meetings with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & Art (1.5 hours per month)
