We are seeking a Lead Pastor for Grace Community Covenant Church in Olympia, WA.
Posture of Leadership
The Lead Pastor is called to be a leader of leaders in the overall shepherding of the church. This assumes a spirit of humility and collaboration. Evidence of the fruit of the Spirit is vital. The range of tenderness and strength, vulnerability and boldness, grace and truth are valued. The work of the gospel in transforming the life of the pastor, in both the past and the present, is essential. We are not looking for perfection but for someone with a heart for God and people.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Lead Pastor’s core responsibility is to oversee the spiritual growth and well-being of the congregation, including, sermons, pastoral care and equipping people for ministry. Also integral to the Lead Pastor’s role is the responsibility to guide and develop church staff and partner with the congregationally-elected Leadership Team, with whom he or she would develop and nourish vision and values for the church.
Skills and Abilities
The Lead Pastor should possess strong relational skills and experience working with a team. Effective communication skills will be critical to the role, including conflict resolution, the ability to authentically relate to people from different generations and backgrounds modeling Christ’s love.
Spiritual Qualifications
The Lead Pastor, above all, must be a person immersed in and transformed by the gospel. Out of this will flow both spiritual and emotional maturity. It will also include a heart for evangelism and mission, as well as a heart for those who are beaten down or oppressed. It is assumed that there will also be a love for God’s Word that is lived out.
Education and Experience
The Lead Pastor must either be currently ordained by the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) or committed to become ordained by the ECC if called to Grace Community Covenant Church. The ideal candidate for Lead Pastor will have a Masters of Divinity from a nationally-recognized seminary or divinity school and at least 7 years overall pastoral experience with at least 3 years at a senior level, or equivalent experience that has sufficiently prepared him or her for a Lead Pastor role.
Benefits
Salary will be $100,000+ with medical, family medical, and retirement benefits.
