Who we are
Chinese For Christ Church San Jose (CFCCSJ) is a non-denominational Chinese Heritage church that has served multi-generational Chinese and English speaking congregations in the Silicon Valley Bay Area for over 50 years. Located in West San Jose, we minister to a diverse congregation of youth, young adults, professionals, and families. Our church has over 250 members with 60-80 regular attendees for our English congregation.
Who we are looking for
We are currently seeking an Associate Pastor who possesses a shepherd's heart and a deep passion for serving our youth in grades 6-12. We also value the ability to connect with parents and care for the wider church family within a multiethnic, multigenerational context.
We believe that youth ministry extends beyond teaching young people. It involves equipping and supporting parents and families to establish gospel-centered foundations in their homes. While youth ministry is the primary focus, this role will provide opportunities to minister to the general community in a pastoral capacity. You will also have opportunities for growth in broader ministries through mentorship from pastors and elders, and collaboration with church lay leaders.
Responsibilities
Youth Ministry Focus: Building, growing, and sustaining a Gospel centered, discipleship focused, Bible based, and relationship committed community of youth in learning to love God and to love their neighbors with a commitment to the Great Commision (Matthew 28:19-20).
- Serve our youth ministry through discipleship in personal or small group relationships.
- Edifying, modeling and training our youth with Biblical truth, and how the Gospel is to be applied in their daily lives.
- Shepherding our youth and their families through visiting and fellowship time.
- Cultivating, mentoring and supporting our youth ministry volunteer leaders through discipleship, training and mentoring.
- Leading, organizing, participating, and planning our - Saturday night youth group fellowship (Saltshakers) and teaching Sunday school classes.
- Participating in additional events that may include cross-church fellowship events, camps and retreats, and other youth-related ministries.
Church / English Ministry Focus
- Participate in staff and church leadership meetings, - including weekly staff prayer meetings, and the monthly Pastor / Elder / Deacon (PED) board meeting.
- Preach to the English congregation regularly, with an emphasis on gospel-centered, expository preaching.
- Be a part of the English Ministry’s Community Groups (Oases) as a member with opportunities to serve and lead.
- Participate in Monthly English Ministry Community Prayer Meetings.
Required Qualifications
* Must be a baptized believer.
* Demonstrate the qualifications of an elder as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
* Fully supports CFCCSJ statement of faith.
* Possess an MDiv degree or currently pursuing an MDiv degree or equivalent at an accredited Seminary.
* English language fluency required.
Preferred Qualifications
