Context:
For 50 years, we’ve welcomed young people with spiritual confusion, relationship and communication breakdown, behavioral and emotional issues, self-destructive habits and addictions, academic struggles, and much more. At our unique long-term residential refuge, they receive food and shelter, licensed counseling, intensive discipleship, state-recognized high school education with extensive tutoring, job training, and much more--all in preparation for pursuing a productive and meaningful life.

Job opening:
We’re seeking a licensed counselor to fill a key leadership role in the ministry. The main focus is counseling young people of two populations: broken young lives in need of healing (our students), and maturing young Christian leaders (interns) who are serving the students. This is a full-time position with various benefits, including generous PTO, paid sabbatical, and a retirement plan.

Requirements include:
Love for the Lord and for young people
Readiness to step into complicated and challenging situations to discern carefully the best path forward for each person
Ability to oversee student intake
Desire to work in concert with the counseling and discipleship team and serve in an immersive ministry community
Education: appropriate counseling licensure

From the job description:
Promote and restore student health by counseling and overseeing the CER counseling process
Counsel individuals and groups to treat mental and emotional disorders, whether cognitive, affective, or behavioral and to promote optimum mental, emotional, and spiritual health
Help individuals deal with issues associated with addictions and substance abuse; family; stress management; self-esteem; etc. by applying psychotherapeutic and family systems theories and techniques
Coordinate and oversee student intake
Provide testing and coordination of testing results and materials
Encourage student growth and responsibility by promoting reasonable goals and expectations on the part of students, parents, interns, and staff
Resolve student problems and needs by coordinating interventions and strategies; work closely with Discipleship department to influence student disciplinary actions
Assist the Discipleship Department by providing training for interns and staff
Collaborate with the CER family by communicating information, building rapport, and facilitating problem solving
