Statement Of Faith: Coal Creek Church Statement of Faith

We subscribe to the following Biblical statement of faith and doctrine.

1) The Holy Scriptures: We believe that the sixty-six books of the Bible are the inspired record of God’s revelation of Himself and of His will to mankind and that they are without error. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21; John 16:12-13)

2) The Godhead: We believe that there is one God who has existed eternally in three personalities – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – each having the same perfect qualities. (Deuteronomy 6:4, II Corinthians 13:14)

3) Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal and unique Son of God. He became a man through the virgin birth, but did not cease to be God. He came to earth to reveal God to man and to accomplish our redemption through His death on the Cross as our substitute and that He arose physically from the grave. He then ascended to heaven where He is our representative before the Father. (Romans 3:24-25; I Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; I Peter 1:3-5)

4) The Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Godhead who convicts the world of sin and regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals, and empowers the saved. (John 18:8-11; II Corinthians 3:6; I Corinthians 12:13; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 1:13)

5) The Total Depravity of Man: We believe that man is totally depraved, and cannot save himself from his lost condition or in any way contribute to his salvation. (Romans 3:22-23; 5:2)

6) Salvation: We believe that salvation is the gift of God and cannot be earned or merited in any way. The human condition in justification is faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, such faith being a gift from God. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:12)

7) Security of Believers: We believe that salvation is an act of God and that a man who is saved cannot be lost. (John 10:27-30)
8) The Two Natures of the Believer: We believe that every Christian possesses

Coal Creek Church of Longview, Washington is seeking a full-time, fully supported senior pastor.
Coal Creek is an independent, fundamental, and dispensational Bible church that has a legacy of support for missions, verse-by-verse expository Bible teaching and an emphasis on grace.
The Church is relatively small with a typical Sunday worship service attendance of 45 to 50 people. The Church meets in a former one-room schoolhouse that seats just under 100 people and has a parsonage nearby. The property has space for expansion.
Despite its small size, it has had a solid ministry since it was founded in 1942. Out of our former attendees, four are now full-time missionaries and three are in the pastorate. The Church supports nine missionaries, and one of the church families has been putting on a weekend missionary conference for over 50 years.
Sunday morning worship is traditional with both hymns and contemporary praise songs. We do not have a worship team. Sunday School classes are available for all age groups, and the Church sponsors a mid-week Women’s Bible Study. Other ministries include quilting and monthly dinner service at the local homeless shelter. Church government is by consensus of the board of ordained elders. The Church practices baptism by immersion and celebrates communion monthly.
We are looking primarily for someone who loves to teach the Word of God. Our church has an emphasis on verse by verse literal exegetical preaching from a dispensational viewpoint. A postgraduate degree is preferred, but we will support and encourage additional schooling for a candidate with a bachelor’s degree. Primarily we require a love for and understanding of grace, and a devotion to the literal interpretation of God’s Word.
The Church is in a rural setting, but is not isolated. There is an estimated population of about 100,000 within a 20-mile radius, including the twin cities of Longview and Kelso as well as Castle Rock and Woodland in Washington and Rainier, Oregon just across the Columbia River. The area boasts several ports, paper and lumber mills, a hospital, a community college, and a doubly accredited Christian school.
Portland Oregon, the Mount St Helens National Volcanic Monument and the Pacific Ocean are all within a 60 mile radius. There are numerous opportunities for snow skiing, hunting, fishing, hiking and other outdoor recreation in the area.
Our web page at CoalCreekChurch.org is currently under reconstruction, but for additional information contact Daryl Erickson at darylmarie88@msn.com. Interested applicants please send your resume and personal testimony.
