POSITION SUMMARY
The Pastor (or Director) of Student Ministries will be a spiritually gifted leader with a strong teaching ability and a deep passion for influencing the next generation (middle school thru college) with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This individual will possess the ability to communicate the gospel clearly and effectively, and will collaborate well with the staff of LCC. This person will demonstrate a firm commitment to their calling in ministry, as well as a genuine willingness to engage meaningfully in the lives of students and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Youth Ministry (SYTE - ‘Serving Youth on the East Side’)
• Teach and disciple students by creating or using available resources to grow as followers of Jesus Christ
• Help students discover their personality & gifting and utilize them in various forms of service to the Kingdom.
• Recruit and train a team of volunteers (‘SYTE Advisors’) to assist in mentoring students
• Provide pastoral care (e.g. visitations, counseling, etc.)
• Plan and coordinate various special events and activities (e.g. field trips, mission trips, retreats, outreach events, etc.)
• Partner with parents by creating a discipling culture and providing them with support and resources
• Plan and lead weekly gatherings (e.g. Friday evenings (all youth) and Sunday mornings (middle school students Bible study)
College Ministry
• Teach and disciple students by creating or using available resources to grow as followers of Jesus Christ
• Research and connect with various campus ministries in the local area, including: Bellevue Community College, University of Washington, Seattle Pacific University, Seattle University, Northwest University, etc.
• Provide pastoral care for students (visiting campuses, counseling, etc.)
• Plan and coordinate fellowship/discipleship events and activities as needed
General
• Develop and administer an annual budget in accordance with the financial policies of the church
• General pastoral responsibilities include: being on duty at weekend services, performing weddings, funerals, communion, baptisms, etc.
• Specific leadership responsibilities include: occasional weekend teaching, teaching various classes as needed, helping lead occasional missions trips, organizing staff retreats and conferences, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned. This list of job duties is not exhaustive and may be revised at any time with or without notice
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must agree to, support and uphold to LCC’s mission statement, guiding principles, and statement of faith
• Has made a commitment to be a member of the body of Christ at Lighthouse Christian Church
• A mature relationship with Jesus Christ that is clearly exhibited in the applicant’s life
• A pastoral heart and love for people
• At least 2 years of student ministry experience preferred
• Seminary degree or equivalent training in Biblical Studies or ministry related field is preferred
COMPENSATION
• $70,000 - $75,000; Commensurate with experience
• Vacation and Sick Leave
• Family and Medical Leave
• Employee Enrichment Fund
