Title: Table Families & Youth Director/Pastor
Reports To: Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor
Hours: 40 hrs/week
Compensation: TBD Pending Experience
Application Process: Listed Below
Role Summary:
As a dedicated follower of Jesus and a passionate kingdom builder, you will play a key role in discipling families and guiding youth to deepen their relationship with Christ. You will serve as the lead for Table Families, including serving as primary staff leader for Table Youth and having oversight for Table Kids department and ministry. You will also have oversight and supervision of our Table Kids department and any downline staff related to Table Youth and Kids. The oversight of these ministries will aim at providing an integrated and cohesive approach to “family discipleship” where parents and guardians are educated, empowered, and equipped to be the primary disciple-makers of their children.
Additionally, you will oversee a vibrant youth ministry that fosters community and supports students in the process of owning their faith in Christ. Leading an impactful youth ministry also involves empowering and equipping adult leaders who can effectively guide students. Across all areas of oversight, you will focus on developing and mobilizing key leaders and volunteers who are committed to embracing and advancing the vision and direction of the ministry.
Qualifications:
- Spiritual Leader: You are spiritually mature and you influence others with your spiritual maturity. This influence starts in your home (if you are married and if you have kids) and flows to the rest of your ministry. You pray for your volunteers and staff regularly and intentionally seek opportunities to encourage them in their walk with Christ.
- Mission Alignment: You thoroughly embrace and effectively communicate the mission, values, and vision of Table Community Church, calling those you lead and serve to do the same.
- Cheerleader: You encourage people, creating and promoting a positive culture; people are fueled with passion for what they get to do by interacting with you!
- Solution-Oriented: You clearly see current realities and find creative solutions for problem areas.
- Strong Communicator: You are a clear thinker, and you know how to share your thoughts. Written or verbal, one-on-one or to a group, you communicate in a way that effectively gains support for new ideas and direction as well as general preaching and teaching.
- Relational Navigator: Others find you friendly and approachable and seek your assistance in working through relational conflict that can occur on teams.
- Supporter of Staff Culture: You have read, believe in, and strive to uphold the mission vision & values of Table Community Church staff culture.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for Table Families, ensuring alignment with Table Kids and Table Youth initiatives.
- Manage and mentor the Table Kids and Table Youth current and future staff.
- Provide vision and clarity for “family discipleship” where parents feel educated, empowered, and equipped to lead their children in time (intentional discipleship/devotions as a family), moments (spontaneous opportunities to teach about God in the course of everyday life and questions), and milestones (setting in place intentional memories and goals that your families can use to remember the Lord’s faithfulness).
- Ensure clear and consistent communication regarding Table Families and Table Youth programs and initiatives.
Regularly assess the health and effectiveness of Table Kids and Table Youth ministries.
- Foster connections with Family Pastors and youth leaders within the local community and across the Harbor Network (as well as any other network and national connections).
Lead and facilitate Table Families Seminars and Conferences, empowering parents to take on the role of primary disciple-makers for their children.
- Oversee all aspects of Table Youth (grades 6-12), including events, curriculum, teaching, worship, and ongoing discipleship efforts.
- Build and nurture a committed youth volunteer team that invests in the spiritual growth of students.
- Oversee the Table Kids team to make sure Sunday gatherings and special events are well prepared and well staffed.
Defining the Win - You are thriving and succeeding at your job when:
- When every child and teenager has an adult investing in their life.
- When all volunteer teams feel loved and supported.
- Parents of all age groups are equipped with tools in how to disciple their child.
- Families are drawn to TCC, in part, because they know their child or teen will be cared for and discipled.
Application Process
Although this role as detailed is for a Family & Youth Director/Pastor position, we recognize that some candidates may feel (for example) that they are qualified as a Youth and Communications Pastor, but not necessarily in oversight of Table Kids. As a growing organization we have roles that open up regularly and welcome all candidates to apply if they meet some of the job descriptions outlined here but have other departmental skills that are not listed.
All applicants are asked to send in their cover letter/resume and 1-3 examples of preaching (video or audio). Please include any work references and contacts in your resume.
