Peninsula Bible Church is a non-denominational church with 75 years of history located in the heart of Silicon Valley. We are a multi-generational, diverse community of people with a deep love for the Bible and a desire to help people find and follow Jesus. PBC is currently accepting applications for a Preaching and Young Adults Pastor position. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Position Overview

The responsibilities of a teaching pastor is to preach to the PBC congregation. You will be part of a rotating teaching team spending a significant amount of time studying and preparing for expository preaching through books of the Bible on Sunday from the pulpit. In addition to teaching, you will provide pastoral care and shepherding to the Young Adult Fellowship (YAF).

PBC is uniquely positioned to minister to a congregation which faces the significant cultural challenges of a busy and transient lifestyle, secular mentality, and achievement-oriented culture. We engage with people who grow up and move to this area from all over the world, people who work at local companies who affect technology and culture around the world, and people who are hungry for community and spirituality. We are looking for a pastor to join our team to teach and invest in the lives of young adults but with a heart for the church as a whole and the community at large.

Responsibilities

Teaching & Preaching the Word
Engage in regular and intentional study of scripture
Participate in planning preaching schedule with other teaching pastor(s) and the elders
Preach on Sunday mornings from the pulpit as part of a rotating teaching team
Guest teach in other PBC ministries, in large or small groups as needed

Shepherd the Young Adult Fellowship (YAF) at PBC
Lead and teach an ongoing, weekly gathering where young adults can grow in community, learn from the Scriptures, and follow Jesus together
Address the spiritual needs of young adults who are in the early stages of faith, mature in faith, and everything in between
Help young adults who are new to PBC connect at YAF or into other communities
Disciple, mentor and train young adults and ministry leaders
Foster a spiritually-rich community among young adults
Oversee the planning of community-building and spiritually nourishing events and retreats
Organize small groups for young adults
Mobilize young adults to serve within PBC or outside of the church
Outreach to young adults in Silicon Valley
Partner with other pastors to integrate and connect young adults into other small groups, ministries, and the body at large, with an emphasis on those who “age-out” of YAF

Participate as a Pastor of PBC
Team with the pastoral team and the elders to plan and lead church-wide ministry
Attend and contribute to: annual Pastor/Elder retreat, Pastoral and All-Staff meetings, weekly Worship Planning forum, bi-monthly elder’s meeting, and various community building activities.
Provide pastoral care and counseling; perform weddings and funerals as needed

Desired qualifications and experience
Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and an authentic relationship with Him
Heart for young adults
Strong ability to teach the Bible expositionally
Ability to train and encourage outreach and evangelism
Desire to raise up leaders through discipleship and mentorship
Ability to excel in a collaborative leadership environment
Confidence to work independently as well as take initiative in ambiguous situations
5-10+ years of preaching and pastoral experience
College degree required
Seminary degree preferred

Hours & Salary
Full-Time, 40 hrs/week
Compensation: $100,000 to $140,000; commensurate with experience.
