Worship Leader

Regular Work Hours: Sunday morning 8:00-11:30am. Seven additional hours to be used for routine rehearsals, staff meeting, administrative tasks, etc. Additional hours will be available as needed.

Accountable to: Lead Pastor & Elder Board

Accountable for: Facilitating culturally appropriate, God glorifying worship in partnership with a team of volunteers.

Position Overview:
The Worship Leader is responsible to plan and facilitate, in partnership with the pastor and worship team, weekly and other corporate worship services. The Worship Leader is responsible for the administration of the worship budget, team schedule, and other aspects of planning in addition to leading worship services.

Overview of Responsibilities:
1. The worship leader will work with the pastor and worship team to select worship songs which glorify God by focusing on his attributes and works which are theologically sound, and which are singable by average, untrained singers.
2. The worship leader will attend (in person or via video call) weekly staff meetings. The worship leader is also responsible to prepare reports for and attend quarterly council meetings and the annual congregational meeting.
3. The worship leader will identify, recruit, train, and otherwise raise up volunteers to serve on the worship team. The worship team leader will pray for and spiritually mentor the worship team members.
4. The worship leader will be responsible to ensure that all needed equipment and materials are present and prepared for worship services. The leader will likewise administer the worship team schedule. The worship leader will be responsible to schedule piano maintenance.
5. The worship leader will be responsible to coordinate worship at special events including weddings, funerals, and evening events. Sound equipment requirements for special events will also be coordinated through the worship leader.
6. The worship leader will prepare worship slides for services. This includes adding sermon slides provided by the pastor, announcement slides provided by the office, and other elements as needed.
7. The worship leader must be familiar with the church’s licenses and subscriptions to ensure that copyright law is respected in the use of all resources. The leader will be responsible to adhere to CCLI use and reporting requirements.
8. The worship leader will uphold the teachings and purposes of Laurel Community Church.
