POSITION SCOPE
The associate pastor position is responsible to implement the vision and goals of the Elders and lead pastor in support to the congregation. This role includes working with and supervising support staff, ministry teams and assisting other ministries in performing their assigned duties.
The ideal candidate will have the capacity to work in a variety of ministry areas, with primary responsibilities being determined by the present needs of the church as we work for the maximum effectiveness of our ministries. Currently, a preference is given for candidates with gifting in the areas of Christian Education and Member Care/Visitation.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works to implement Evangelical Bible Church’s (EBC’s) vision and goals.
• Collaboratively strategizes operationalizing EBC’s vision and goals.
• Provides leadership and direction for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Provides supervision, coaching, and mentoring for staff and volunteers.
• Fosters spiritual development and fulfills other pastoral needs.
• Provides direction for church administration and operating needs.
• Build relationships with church members and the community to offer spiritual care.
• Regularly evaluate existing ministries to facilitate their enhancement or reorganization for maximum effectiveness.
• Help to facilitate the broad communication of information between staff, lay leadership, and congregation.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS
· Fulfill the duties of the ministry in accordance with the beliefs and direction of the church Constitution, Governing Board of Elders (Elders), other governing documents, and biblical principles.
· Work to make ministry vision and goals become a reality.
· Provide administrative oversight and support.
· Recruit, train, and equip leaders for ministries. Collaborate with and provide support as needed to ministry teams.
· Develop leadership training opportunities as needed.
· Build and maintain positive, supportive relationships with the community and persons attending EBC.
· Collaboratively lead, organize, and oversee other events as able and necessary with the lead pastor’s direction.
· Regularly report to direct supervisors and the Elders.
· Accept feedback and respond with appropriate actions.
· Other duties as determined by the Elders.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must meet the Scriptural requirements for an Elder and Deacon.
(1 Timothy 3:1-10, Titus 1:5-9)
• Must evidence Biblical and theological training or equivalent training or experience.
• Must be in agreement with EBC’s Statement of Faith, vision, and values.
ADDITIONAL
• This is intended to be a full-time position, but some flexibility will be considered.
• Compensation package is based upon experience and other parameters.

EBC History
EBC of Dallas had its beginnings in 1912. Our congregation is multi-generational, has a “small town flavor” and is generally spiritually mature with strong Bible knowledge. We are a church with a average attendance of around 350 people in our two morning worship services, one of which is also available online. We have Sunday School for adults, teens and children. We have youth groups for both middle school and high school that meet under the direction of our full-time youth pastor. The recent completion of a youth center building demonstrates our commitment to the young people in our area. We offer men’s and women’s Bible studies, and Mom to Mom and AWANA programs serving our church and the community. We also have small groups for the church body which are called Connect Groups. We are a church that is monetarily generous, financially strong, and supportive of our many missionaries. WHAT’S IT LIKE TO LIVE IN DALLAS, OREGON
The City of Dallas has a population of approximately 17,000 and is the county seat of Polk County, located 15 miles west of Salem, the state capital. Dallas is a family-oriented, safe community and offers small-town charm, beautiful city parks, an aquatic center, and both public and private Christian schools. Chemeketa Community College serves our region and has a center in Dallas. We are strategically located between the beautiful Oregon coast (50 miles West) and the Cascade Range and high desert of Central Oregon (100+ miles to the East). Our thriving community is a simple commute to Salem, which offers shopping and cultural entertainment. Dallas is serviced by a small local hospital which is affiliated with a larger regional hospital located in Salem.
