Memo: to local faith organizations
Subject: Internship Opportunity to live on-site and join our exciting community
Dear prospective Interns and potential partner,
We are excited to extend an invitation to join our amazing faith-based community as interns! At Union Gospel Mission, Portland, our mission is to open life-changing pathways to people experiencing homelessness, hunger, addiction and abuse. Our organization is dedicated to fostering true holistic healing through shared experiences and collaborative relationships with services providers and the local faith community.
This unique opportunity allows you to live on-site, free of charge, in exchange for your presence and ministerial support. Your part would be to participate in various ministry activities and simply offer support, mentorship and prayers with our on-site residents living in our men’s facility located at 3 NW Third Avenue in Portland’s historic Old Town District.
We are seeking enthusiastic men of all ages who are passionate about their faith and eager to contribute to our community. Internships are available for a one-year commitment, although shorter or longer terms may be available.
Qualifications for the position:
• Interns live on-site and are available from dinner time until 7AM, 4-5 days per week.
• Participate in Tuesday evening chapel.
• Share dinner meals 4 - 5 days per week
• Room and board provided at no cost
• Interns are on-site two weekends per month
• Conduct one-on-one conversations with residents a minimum of 3 times per week.
• UGM will pay for CPR/AED certification.
• Interns must be able to handle conflict resolution and/or de-escalation, with training provided as needed.
If you feel called to this opportunity, please reach out to us; we would love to hear from you and discuss how we can partner together in making a difference in our world.
Praying thankfully,
Paul Schramm, MA, M.B.A.
