Position Overview
Youngnak Presbyterian Church of Portland is seeking a full-time English Ministry (EM) Pastor to lead Journey Fellowship (JF), the English-speaking ministry of our church.
The EM Pastor will shepherd the English-speaking congregation through biblical preaching, discipleship, leadership development, and pastoral care while working in partnership with the Korean Ministry (KM) under our church’s “One Church” vision.
Journey Fellowship seeks to cultivate a Christ-centered community where English-speaking members grow in faith, develop as disciples of Jesus Christ, and actively participate in the life and mission of Youngnak Church.
Responsibilities
The English Ministry Pastor will:
● Lead and preach at English Ministry (Journey Fellowship) worship services
● Provide discipleship and pastoral care for English-speaking members
● Develop and equip leaders within the congregation
● Lead small groups and discipleship initiatives
● Collaborate with the Korean Ministry in shared ministries such as missions and education
● Nurture and equip the next generation in their faith
● Support unity within the church under the One Church vision
Required Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate:
● A clear calling to pastoral ministry
● Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent degree from an evangelical seminary
● Strong commitment to biblical preaching and teaching
● Experience in pastoral ministry or church leadership
● Ability to minister effectively in English
● A heart for discipleship and shepherding the church community
● Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-cultural church setting
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience serving in an English Ministry within a Korean-American church
● Experience developing leaders and discipleship ministries
● Cross-cultural ministry experience
