Youth Ministry Resident
Job Description
The Youth Ministry Resident (Youth Resident) will work closely with the Middle School Pastor (MS Pastor) or High School Pastor (HS Pastor) to learn and seek God’s direction for ministering to students in Palo Alto and the surrounding areas. The Youth Resident will report directly to either the MS Pastor or HS Pastor and will assist in planning and leading youth group activities.
The Youth Resident will assist in planning and leading youth group activities. The Youth Resident position also requires participation in our Leadership Institute, which includes a minimum of 4 hours of ministry training per week (within the 40-hour workweek). This position is intended to be a one-year term of employment with the option to extend for a second year.
Resident Responsibilities
Provide regular, focused communication to students, parents, and leaders consistent with other communication practices at PBC.
Help plan, coordinate, and manage registrations for events and trips.
Attend weekly youth ministry team meetings.
Attend and assist with volunteer leadership training and “check-ins.”
Help lead, coordinate, and conduct digital and in-person youth ministry meetings including: scheduling teachers & worship leaders as necessary; lead/co-lead a small group Bible study for students; upon request host, lead games, and teach at youth ministry meetings and understand all aspects of the schedule/agenda; and purchase (to be reimbursed) and pick up necessary resources for programming and/or events.
Mentor and teach biblical truths to students in both formal and informal settings.
Build intentional relationships with students in their lives, at school events, and in other informal settings.
Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds is required for events and setup.
Qualifications
Growing and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
A passion for investing in and walking alongside students to show them the love of Christ.
Ongoing dependence on the Holy Spirit to direct and modify ministry plans, areas of emphasis, and responses to student/family needs and requests.
Experience working with middle school or high school students.
Good administrative and organizational skills.
Additional desired skills/proficiencies
Basic photo/image editing (Canva and/or Photoshop)
Basic video editing
Proficiency in Google Suites (Slides, Sheets, Docs, Cal, Etc.)
Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and own a reliable personal vehicle.
Rate of Pay and Hours
Hours: Full-Time (40 hours/week) with the flexibility for a part-time arrangement if needed.
Compensation: $20.00 per hour plus an option for housing
Benefits: This full-time position is eligible for benefits.
Term: This position is for a one-year term of at-will employment with PBC.
At-Will Employment: This position constitutes at-will employment, meaning that either PBC or the employee may terminate the employment at any time consistent with all applicable laws.
