POSITION SUMMARY
The Pastor of Discipleship & Community advances the mission and vision of Campus Bible Church by developing clear pathways for spiritual growth, fostering biblical community, and equipping believers to become mature and reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ.
This pastor will provide leadership for adult discipleship environments—including Life Groups and Adult Sunday School—ensuring that every person at Campus Bible Church has a clear next step toward connection, spiritual formation, and meaningful ministry.
This role will help cultivate a disciple-making culture throughout the church.
Our Mission: “Enjoying and Sharing the Abundant Life of Jesus.” (John 10:10; John 15:5)
A core strategy for accomplishing this mission is the development of small missional discipleship groups
that share life together and multiply using The Journey curriculum as a guide.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Discipleship & Adult Education:
• Champion the church’s mission and vision for making disciples.
• Help establish and nurture a disciple-making culture throughout the church.
• Collaborate with ministry leaders to integrate discipleship across all ministries and departments.
• Oversee adult education ministries, including Adult Sunday School classes, curriculum planning, and teacher development.
Life Groups & Community Building:
• Expand the Life Group ministry by helping new attenders and uninvolved members get connected and engaged.
• Equip group leaders to cultivate healthy, multiplying groups built around the five essential focus areas: (1) Biblical Application, (2) Fellowship, (3) Serving Others, (4) Outreach, (5) Prayer.
• Ensure clear pathways for people to join groups and grow in community.
• Recruit, train, equip, and mentor small group leaders and apprentices.
• Monitor group health and foster a sense of community.
Assimilation:
• Oversee the church’s assimilation process, helping newcomers move from first-time guests to fully engaged members.
• Work with staff and volunteers to create a warm, welcoming environment and a smooth follow-up system.
• Develop next-step opportunities such as new attender lunches, membership classes, and service
pathways.
• Encourage and support ministry leaders to strengthen assimilation in all departments.
• Utilize the Subsplash database to track engagement and follow-up.
Preaching & Teaching:
• Preach biblical, Gospel-centered, engaging, and impactful sermons 1-2 times a month as a member of the teaching team.
• Participate in Sunday worship services when not preaching (welcome, announcements, communion).
• Teach in various discipleship environments as needed (classes, workshops, groups, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS
• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vibrant, growing relationship with Him.
• A man who meets the biblical qualifications of an elder (in accordance with 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).
• Agreement with the church’s doctrinal statement, mission, and values.
• Pastoral gifting with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• A heart for discipleship, evangelism, and cross-cultural missions.
• A passion for cultivating a deep prayer life personally and culture of prayer corporately.
• Great with people, a team player who loves to collaborate, plan and work with others.
• Gifted, experienced preacher with ability to exposit and apply Scripture practically.
• Ability to recruit, equip, and lead volunteer teams.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously with excellent time management and
attention to detail.
• Provide compassionate and biblically-based counseling for individuals, marriages, and families in the church.
• Comfortable using, learning and leveraging technology in ministry.
• Seminary degree and 5+ years in full-time pastoral ministry preferred.

Campus Bible Church is located in Fresno, California, in the Central Valley. It is located 2 hours west of Yosemite National Park, 3 hours east of the coast, 3 hours south of San Francisco and 3.5 hours north of Los Angeles.
Campus Bible Church is a multi-staff, multi-site, multi-generational, elder-guided, staff-managed, globally-
minded church of approximately 1,000 people in two locations.
Our Maple Campus is a 5-acre facility (including an auditorium that seats 350, a gymnasium, and an
education building) and is located 1-block south of California State University Fresno.
Our Palm Campus is a 2.5-acre facility (including an auditorium that seats 225, a Fellowship Hall and Solarium,) and is located in central Fresno, 4.5 miles from our Maple Campus
