Greetings on behalf of the First Baptist Church of Monroeville. We are a congregation of biblically focused believers located in the thick of the Monroeville community. Our beloved pastor has retired. We have secured an interim pastor to shepherd the church during the transition to a new pastor, and we are now engaged in the work of seeking out the one whom God has prepared for us. Ideally, we would like our pastor to be able to fulfill the pastoral duties that our current and previous pastors performed. Our primary concern, of course, is that the uncompromised word of God is proclaimed from the pulpit on Sunday mornings, and preferably in a pastor-led weekly Bible study. We would like our pastor to be involved in the life of the church, participating in the ministries we host, visiting the sick, being available for any special or holiday services, and being willing to work cooperatively with our church boards. Our deacons will be active in working beside you, helping wherever and whenever needed. Additionally, we have an elite-level office manager who would handle logistics and be of great assistance generally. At this point in our church’s life, especially after the Great American Church Exodus of 2020, those who attend have stayed with this church body for the strong fellowship. Our congregation is composed primarily of members 55 and above, with a couple of young families, and a smattering of middle-aged individuals. The attendants in our sanctuary can vary from week to week, but the makeup of our congregation fairly represents the diversity of Monroeville. For any faults we bear, one thing we are never criticized for is not being friendly. Members are always gratified to see a new face, and any visitor who walks through our doors can expect to receive a warm welcome from those in our church who are gifted in hospitality and friendliness. As stated previously, we are very biblically minded. Our Sunday school teachers prepare and present their lessons from the philosophy that iron sharpens iron. In everything, we desire to speak the truth in love and hear the truth proclaimed; for the edification and building up of the body, and for the glory of God our Father. We support roughly a dozen missions financially each year, including one that is homegrown: our monthly Diaper Ministry, where we freely distribute diapers and other related products to anyone who comes through our doors. In terms of finances, we consistently run above water, which enables us to use our funds in the pursuit of serving God and ministering to those within our reach. Our tithing rate is steady, and we ended 2025 with a healthy positive balance. In addition to being financially dependable, our congregation is faithful in service. Any given Sunday, many, if not most, of the faces in the sanctuary consistently serve in the church in some capacity. Our services blend contemporary and traditional services, more so leaning toward traditional by the standards. That being said, we are Baptist and do not have a liturgical service by any definition of the word. Our music consists of equal parts hymn and contemporary. Those in our congregation have a rather varied set of preferences when it comes to the style of service, with some being quite boisterous and energetic, while others prefer the calm and reserved style they knew in their youth. Our building is currently larger than our congregation size, and we would love to find ways to better utilize the space that we have to better serve God. The previous year, we averaged 50 attendants a Sunday, with a small but consistent group of viewers of our livestreams on YouTube. If you’re interested in a low-stakes look into our church, all of our services are streamed on YouTube under the channel name First Baptist Church of Monroeville (@firstbaptistchurchofmonroe9278). We are presently looking to have a minimum separation of six months between our former pastor’s retirement and the installation of a new pastor. In the meantime, we would love to get in touch with you, whether in person or even using the power of the internet to facilitate a meeting with our pastoral search committee. Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction. We hope that you will consider whether the Lord is calling you to our church, and we pray that He will. Whatever you resolve to do, may the Lord bless you, and may you serve Him faithfully in all that you do.
