Church Overview
We are a healthy, rural, elder-led church of ~250 located in the scenic North Umpqua River Valley of southern Oregon. Our community enjoys a peaceful lifestyle surrounded by rivers, forests, and mountains—just 1.5 hours from the Oregon Coast and 1.5 hours from Crater Lake National Park. We have a robust Global Outreach ministry and strong connections to local and regional parachurch ministries. Our senior pastor is beginning his 20th year in the role and desires to mentor a successor before making the transition to retirement. We are prayerfully seeking the next pastor God will raise up to lead our congregation in the coming years.
Position Summary
We are looking for an Associate Pastor for Youth & Worship who senses a long term call to shepherd a rural congregation and is eager to grow into the Lead Pastor role within 5-7 years. This position is ideal for a man who loves students, can lead Christ centered worship, and desires intentional pastoral development.
We warmly welcome husband and wife ministry teams. If a candidate’s wife desires to serve alongside him—whether in youth ministry, worship, children’s ministry, administration, or hospitality—we are prepared to compensate both according to their ministry contributions.
Key Responsibilities
• Youth Ministry Leadership — Lead weekly youth gatherings, teach Scripture, disciple students, support students and teachers in local schools, and build volunteer teams.
• Worship Leadership (optional) — Work with current worship leader to plan and lead Sunday worship; develop musicians; cultivate a Christ exalting, worship culture.
• Pastoral Development — Preach 10-12 times per year; receive mentoring; grow in shepherding, leadership, and elder level responsibilities.
• Optional Spouse Ministry Role — Opportunities in youth, worship, children’s ministry, women’s ministry, global outreach, and/or administration.
• Community Engagement — Build relationships in our rural community, participate in community events and attend various student activities; website maintenance and social media engagement.
Qualifications
• Clear calling to pastoral ministry and long term rural church leadership.
• Agreement with historic evangelical doctrine and commitment to expository preaching.
• Musical competency to lead worship (vocals and/or instrument).
• Relational warmth, humility, and a shepherd’s heart.
• Seminary training preferred but not required.
• A marriage marked by unity and shared ministry vision (if applying as a team).
Compensation & Benefits
Total package valued at approximately $65,000 annually, including:
• On campus home with all utilities paid.
• Medical and dental coverage.
• Annual stipend (salary + benefits combined into total package value).
• Shared compensation available for a spouse’s ministry role.
• Paid time off and ministry expense support.
